ABOUT ME!

Muza (they/them) uses performance art as an opportunity for ritual, using large theaters, dirty bar floors, underground clubs, and (since the pandemic) the expanding space of digital connection. Through independent projects and collaborations in the LGBQT+ community and to the general public, Muza plays with themes of divine monsters, Ecosexuality, and the dichotomy between glamour and gore. The intention being to empower and uplift a physical space from the usual and mundane to an elevated place of ritual where people can participate as collaborators and witnesses, Muza’s work is to blend and question the presence and need of fronteras (borders): physical, social, emotional, national, and beyond—to blur the line between the beautiful and the grotesque. Muza delights in creating polarizing physical reactions in observers' bodies, in flirting with the boundaries between ecstasy, joy, and disgust: intersecting these points to honor and tap into our collective powers and consciousness.

Muza’s formal theatre and dance experience of 15+ years is a combination of Movement techniques (modern, contemporary, african diasporic dance, folklore dance, and musical theatre) and a BS in Kinesiology and Contemporary Dance, with somatic practices, and Trauma-Informed Yoga. These principles are applied to performance art development, primarily utilizing drag and burlesque mediums to push back on the rigid borders of classical forms, hybridizing them into accessible, messy, and blurry art pieces. Muza completed their MA in Performance at the Norwegian Theatre Academy in June 2024. They currently reside in Oslo, Norway.
